Today was an easy day. Instead of traveling and and standing for hours at a museum we stayed in the science hall on campus and had a class with Toby about Biodiversity. It felt great to sit down for once instead of standing and walking all day, that gets really tiring!

In our class we discussed about biodiversity and conservation efforts for our ecosystems and species. Prior to the class, we had to read an interesting article titled "Why Should You Care About Biodiversity?" This article made me think of many things such as what should we consider important to conserve in the environment, creating eco-friendly cities, and global issues like world population. There are so many threats and many possible solutions to conserving and protecting diversity that seeking any one long-term solution can be tough. During our discussion, we talked about issues like whether we should build cities and infrastructure in ecosystems for the sake of our economy even if it endangers species in the area. Answering
this question for the better of all is very problematic, there is no right or wrong answer and this is what makes conserving biodiversity such a touch issue to tackle globally. World population and poverty is another issue we eventually have to solve and face. Should we redistribute our wealth to everyone even if we know that this planet cannot support everyone with enough resources? It is just very difficult to simply come up with one solid solution without looking at the big picture and long-term consequences our decision might have in the future. For example, instead of burning fossil fuels for energy, we can switch to just solely wind power and solar power, but installing solar panels is expensive and wind power is not always reliable. As our world population continues to grow, these are issues we all will eventually have to face and make a decision what to do. After that, we analyzed the samples we collected from the island but not many interesting things were found. I caught some baby fish but I couldn't find it in the bag, which was unfortunate. I think he probably knew what was going to happen to him so he escaped.

After that we watched a video on YouTube about the impact of water bottles on our communities and the environment. It was a really interesting video and it addressed many things I was never aware of. I think everyone should watch this video to bring more awareness, so people can understand how the consumption of bottled water isn't always beneficial to us.
After our class we had lunch, well, a very dramatic lunch I should say. There was nothing but gossip going around at our table! Afterwards we went to RCHS and visited the Hart-Cluett Mansion. I been to this place many times before since I took a history class there in my first semester. And aw man seeing my old professor there was kind of awkward for me since I wasn't exactly the best student in that class, ha-ha! And then we toured the Hart-Cluett mansion, it was a nice tour since she let us go wherever we wanted to go instead of giving us the usual tour like every museum does. But then I asked if I could leave a little earlier because I was getting a bad migraine.
